Told you not to confuse them . . .氽,汆。。。

ahh...so you did! wait...I know what is wrong, when I copied and pasted from the dictionary 汆 turned it into 氽 drats! That's strange...so yes, in conclusion 汆cuan1 / 氽:tun3

Yo, Yeke, where are your tones?

One could ask the same of you Heifeng, all I see are digits after each syllable you wrote :wink:

Ah yes, 'the dictionary dunnit' . . I'll remember that next time I mess up. Which is probably going to be soon.

吃斋, chīzhāi, to be a religious vegetarian. That is, to be vegetarian because of your religion. If you're . . I don't know, Mormon, and happen to be a vegetarian also, you don't count. Unless Mormons are vegetarian anyway, but I don't think they are.

籴: dí, to buy grain

粜: tiào, to sell grain

ahh..it is all fixed now. The good thing is we'll never ever confuse them again, right?

wow, this article has some fun terms! (too bad that darn ad at the top is gonna make me have a seizure or something)

腮红 sai1hong2: blush (i'm kinda ashamed I don't know this word already (well, it's obvious what it means, but I don't remember myself actually saying it before) :oops: minor oversite in the girly vocabulary department)

石棉 shi2mian2: asbestos...(the same here..how could I not know what the best insulation material is called in Chinese....sooo ashamed...)

滑石粉 hua2shi2fen3 talc...(eh, I could give or take this one...)

腮红 = 胭脂

滑石粉 = 爽身粉

ahh, good to know. Skylee, which terms do you usually use?

Posted

I usually use 胭脂 and 爽身粉. But in writing I might use 腮紅 (depending on what I am writing).
