Wu dialects are often classified into Northern (Shanghai, Suzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi) and Southern (Wenzhou). Southern is more conservative, Northern has more Mandarin influence (more putonghua vocabulary) and has seen more diphthong reduction. Wenzhou has a population of 8 million. Quote

But it is still definitely Wu (you will definitely notice it's not just mispronounced Mandarin when the voice sidetrack is cut into the middle of the song.) Quote
