What is 頭款? I read it in the dictionary example for 一文不名:

付了頭款,我就一文不名了。
However, I can't find it in any dictionaries (probably because it's a compound word. Can someone explain what it means please?

Thanks.

I think "頭" means it comes first (similar to "at the head" of a list etc.), so it's a payment ("款") that comes first i.e. a deposit or inital payment.

Also, I'm wondering if it would make sense to say

頭款付了,我就一文不名了。
. Or would it have to be "頭款付了, 我就一文不名了"?
