Saturday Posted September 23, 2007 at 03:02 PM Report Posted September 23, 2007 at 03:02 PM So, I bought this dictionary wich seemed to be very good when trying it in the store. A "Oxford advanced learner's English-Chinese dictionary sixth edition" is what I turn out to buy. But I have now realized that the dictionary doesn't seem to have a "several-words" pinyin check-up. Wich reaally bothers me. I mean, when I hear a word, and want to look it up. I can just write the first sound and then I have to choose a character to go with to continue with the next sound. Wich makes it useless since my knowledge of Hanzi is rather insufficient. So, now to the question, does anyone know if there is any possibility the maybe download this software and have it installed? Cause I mean, it has a SD-card port and everything. Cheers guys. EDIT: with the dictionary I also got some kind of card, apparently filled with 300RMB, wich directs me to this website www.besta.com.cn where I guess you can download some software or so... But it's all in chinese so I don't really get the hang of it. Quote

PinYin55 Posted September 24, 2007 at 04:13 AM Report Posted September 24, 2007 at 04:13 AM To the user above me: Since I don't have any device with a palm OS, what standalone electronic dictionary device is best? Quote
muyongshi Posted September 24, 2007 at 05:38 AM Report Posted September 24, 2007 at 05:38 AM Point being that you can get an entrance level palm with pleco and pay about the same for many electronic dictionaries that you would buy in the store here... Quote

youpii Posted September 24, 2007 at 01:01 PM Report Posted September 24, 2007 at 01:01 PM PinYin55: I have the 快易典 V680 http://www.hwapu.com.cn/ and I'm happy with it. You can even add your own dictionaries. So I made myself a full pinyin dict from Stardict's 现代汉语词典. Not as convenient as Pleco, but more in my budget. Quote
PinYin55 Posted September 26, 2007 at 08:36 PM Report Posted September 26, 2007 at 08:36 PM Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I definitely need to pick one up. Quote
