brightdays Posted September 25, 2007 at 10:52 AM Report Posted September 25, 2007 at 10:52 AM Hi Imron or somebody else, I have successfully(my pc tell me that) installed Pinyiput. But after opening word, the input method icon is still English UK. After selected Simplified Chinese, then typing, the input method went back to English UK automatically. And all letters typed were in English. Would somebody pls tell me what I need to do to type Chinese and type the tone as well? Quote
imron Posted September 25, 2007 at 01:11 PM Report Posted September 25, 2007 at 01:11 PM What operating system and version of word are you running, and do you have any other Chinese input methods (i.e MS Pinyin) successfully installed? Also, can you try to see if it works in notepad? 1) Open notepad. 2) Change the input language to Chinese. 3) Change the input method to Pinyinput. (see my original post for screenshots of where to click to change the input language and method) You should see a little blue toolbar appear in the bottom left corner of your screen if pinyin is currently active. brightdays Posted September 26, 2007 at 03:42 PM Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 at 03:42 PM Thanks for your reply Imron. It is working now. But I can type a o e but not i u yu. Has this happened to you before? Quote
imron Posted September 27, 2007 at 04:03 PM Report Posted September 27, 2007 at 04:03 PM Check whether or not you are used "checked" mode (you can toggle this mode by typing ctrl-. In checked mode (which is the default), pinyinput will only allow you to type valid pinyin syllables, so if you are trying to start a word with i or u, then it will not work, because no valid pinyin syllables begin with these letters. Can you confirm whether or not i and u work when you type them as part of a valid pinyin syllable? e.g. diu. Quote
