Woodpecker Posted September 25, 2007 at 10:53 PM Report Posted September 25, 2007 at 10:53 PM Hi, one of the new first-years at my uni is from Hong Kong and I really want to be friends but don't know how...I'm a white Caucasian Brit but I speak a little Cantonese...it broke the ice last year between me and 3 other Hong Kongers in the year above (now friends of mine). Should I tell her that I speak a little Canto? I'm a bit shy and I don't want to seem forward (I'm not interested in her). Quote

Dude, if you want to get to know someone, saying 'hi' never hurts. Just greet her in Cantonese and take it from there. You're not in highschool anymore! Quote
