pekingkat Posted September 27, 2007 at 02:54 PM Report Posted September 27, 2007 at 02:54 PM Hi, first post here! I'm in a school year study abroad program at Er Fu Zhong (next to Bei Shi Da). I've been in Beijing for about a month now and it's amazing! So I've been wondering, are there any other study abroad programs for high school students in Beijing? What are they like? Do they provide host families? What's the academic workload like? etc. Also, if anyone has any specific tips on fun places to go and things to do around the Bei Shi Da -ish area, I'd love to hear them! Thanks in advance and I hope everyone's having an awesome time in China! Quote
zerolife Posted October 3, 2007 at 07:30 PM Report Posted October 3, 2007 at 07:30 PM YFU is one. there are quite a few YFU student around your area but I have no clue how you can get into contact with them (I worked for their travel department this summer). and yes they provide host family and as far as I know, students are placed in local high schools there are a lot of fun places around bei shi da since it's very close to the city. my favorite is houhai to hang out with friends. adrianlondon Posted October 3, 2007 at 08:55 PM Report Posted October 3, 2007 at 08:55 PM Depends what you're after. Cycle (or bus or walk) South down to Xinjiekou and go shopping, then cut East (ie turn left) through some hutongs until you hit lakes. Enjoy a beer, some food or just a stroll along the lakes. You can go fishing there if you like and in Winter ice skating. About 15 mins cycling from where you are. Probably best just to follow your Chinese classmates though! Quote
