Andy-Ru Posted October 9, 2007 at 05:15 AM Report Posted October 9, 2007 at 05:15 AM Hi everyone!! 好久不见!! My question is, what's the difference between “绰号”and“外号”? Thanks Andy Quote
rootfool Posted October 9, 2007 at 05:45 AM Report Posted October 9, 2007 at 05:45 AM Hmm,I think there's no difference between these. Quote
Littleweed Posted October 9, 2007 at 02:40 PM Report Posted October 9, 2007 at 02:40 PM As a native Mandarin speaker, I use either of these for the meaning. I can't see much difference between them. Both are negative in most cases. Maybe "外号" sometimes can be neutral. Quote
milesaway Posted October 9, 2007 at 03:02 PM Report Posted October 9, 2007 at 03:02 PM No difference. And negative or not, depends on the context. Quote

adrianlondon Posted October 14, 2007 at 05:25 PM Report Posted October 14, 2007 at 05:25 PM How can "nickname" be negative...? Let's say your name was Charles, and you're a bit fat. At school people might give you the nickname "Chubby Charles". That's a negative nickname ;) OK, I don't actually know any fat people called Charles, but for some reason that combo just popped into my head. Quote
