zozzen Posted October 9, 2007 at 07:52 PM Author Report Posted October 9, 2007 at 07:52 PM Thanks! Tianya's forum seems to be a site for classified ads. It's useful to me, but i'm looking for discussion forums about local culture, society and language. Any more suggestions? Quote
imron Posted October 10, 2007 at 01:31 AM Report Posted October 10, 2007 at 01:31 AM Tianya's a pretty big site with lots of stuff on it. If you're looking for discussion forums one place to start would be their 天涯杂谈 discussion forums found here. Quote
zozzen Posted October 10, 2007 at 08:09 PM Author Report Posted October 10, 2007 at 08:09 PM Thanks imron! Its style is quite different from what i thought a forum should be. Figuring out how to use it. Quote
reisen Posted October 11, 2007 at 02:08 AM Report Posted October 11, 2007 at 02:08 AM It's a forum, just a little bit much too big... Quote
roddy Posted October 11, 2007 at 02:11 AM Report Posted October 11, 2007 at 02:11 AM A much more manageable set of forums are the 小组 on douban.com - Douban is basically social networking based around books and movies, but there are also discussion groups for pretty much anything - certainly for any decent sized city, language, etc. It's also a lot easier to navigate than many Chinese forums - no flashing graphics, no pop-ups, no massive signatures and avatars, etc. I don't know how they rank for size, but they're very usable. zozzen Posted October 16, 2007 at 07:47 AM Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 at 07:47 AM Thanks! I found that Douban's social-networking concepts very intereresting. I've joined a few groups there and hope to grab some trends about mainland china. Highly recommended. Quote

zozzen Posted October 18, 2007 at 08:56 AM Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 at 08:56 AM What the heck does that mean????? He means "a renowned website" . Why the fxxk did you seem to be annoyed with the post? Not all users here speak fluent English, but many of them are important guests who speak REAL Chinese and makes this forum useful for learners.
