I was wondering what opportunities existed for living in Xinjiang. I currently live in the Middle East and would love to combine Chinese language study with learning more about Chinese Muslims.

Thanks.

As with the rest of China, the most common and easily available route is teaching English, which is what I'm doing here. The second most common route as I perceive from my experiences with other expats here, is studying at one of the universities. Given your interest in studying Muslim culture, this may be a better option, since you'll be place in an academic context and probably given more consistent access (in terms of time) to the Muslim cultures you wish to study.

Best,

ND
