chengdude Posted April 28, 2004 at 02:34 AM Report Posted April 28, 2004 at 02:34 AM So, let's make some sweeping generalizations and say that pet ownership, especially purebred dogs and cats, makes a statement of individualism, wealth, fashion, and/or reflects the overall economic development of a country...yes or no? My list of observed breeds in China, most of which I didn't see 4 years ago includes: German Shepherd Doberman Pinscher Rottweiler Labrador Retriever Newfoundland (good god, where do you keep one of those here?) Siberian Husky (very trendy) Collie Chow Boxer Dalmatian Shih Tzu Pomeranian Boston Terrier Chihuahua Lhasa Apso ..and probably some others I'm forgetting. So which breed do you think is most suitable for life in China...or for which province? If dog-mania continues, will China be up to its collective shoulders in dog crap? I've already had a couple of unfortunate encounters as, just as with babies and small children, peeing and crapping in the middle of the sidewalk seems perfectly natural (hey, where else can you go in the middle of the city?).
