wenhao888 Posted October 18, 2007 at 03:50 AM Report Posted October 18, 2007 at 03:50 AM First of all, I'd like to apologize if this question has been asked in the past, but here goes: Let's say if you want to study in Diqiucun in Beijing, can the school issue an acceptance letter to be used for applying student visa in your home country? Or, do you go to China on a tourist visa and THEN apply for a student visa WHEN you're in China. Is this possible? If yes, in this case, what is the duration of time do they give you for the student visa in China? Many thanks and warm regards. Quote
Qcash3 Posted October 18, 2007 at 11:17 AM Report Posted October 18, 2007 at 11:17 AM Check this out. There is some information on the different types of visas, their durations, and who may or may not be able to issue a certain type of visa. Also look at this. A few previous posts on converting L to X visas. Quote
shanghaikai Posted October 18, 2007 at 04:04 PM Report Posted October 18, 2007 at 04:04 PM Why aren't you asking the school about this? In my experience, private schools (read: private business) do not help you with your visa. You will usually enter on an L visa (tourist). Universities will send you an acceptance letter after applying that allows you to get an F visa (for studying). If the private school does not help you get an F visa before getting to China, don't expect them to help you convert to an F visa after arriving. Read their website, call them, or read the fine print. For example, Mandarin House in Shanghai states that a valid visa is the student's responsibility and not their's in their Terms and Conditions.
