laser2302 Posted October 24, 2007 at 11:46 AM Report Posted October 24, 2007 at 11:46 AM Hi Everyone, Read the following sentence: 据悉,工作人员喜欢模仿她说话的甜美口气,一解长期赶工的苦闷,而她还会带巧克力、零食分送大家,轻松赢得好人缘。 Can anyone tell me what's the difference between 一解长期赶工的苦闷 and 解长期赶工的苦闷 I don't understand why we put '一' after 解. There are other phrases like that, e.g. 一改昨天的态度, in this case what's the difference between: 一改昨天的态度 and 改昨天的态度 other examples include 一改……的态度 一改……的作风 一改……的习惯 Now why on earth we put '一' in these phrases and what's the significance of it or what does it mean in these phrases, this is something that I never understood. So please please help me. Quote
muyongshi Posted October 24, 2007 at 12:33 PM Report Posted October 24, 2007 at 12:33 PM I don't understand why we put '一' after 解. First off I think you mean before Here and in all the situations you mentioned and many more an 一 would represent an immediate result and action 我下课后要回家 vs 我一下课,就要回家 Means immediately after i get out of class I am going home So in your example: immediately following xxx she does xxxx Quote
skylee Posted October 24, 2007 at 01:01 PM Report Posted October 24, 2007 at 01:01 PM I think it means completely. Quote
muyongshi Posted October 24, 2007 at 01:03 PM Report Posted October 24, 2007 at 01:03 PM Well you would know better than I would but I don't quite understand how it would mean completely...??? Quote
Essence Posted October 24, 2007 at 02:06 PM Report Posted October 24, 2007 at 02:06 PM Hi, maybe I can help you some. In Chinese, "一" often means "all of", "totally", "wholly", "completely" So, we can translate "一改..." to: 1. Sb. change all of the ... 2. Sb. change ... completely. 3. Sb. wholly change ... Quote
gentle-fly Posted October 27, 2007 at 07:40 AM Report Posted October 27, 2007 at 07:40 AM i agree with what skylee has said ,it means "completely","to the core","utterly",or"throughly"! 据悉,工作人员喜欢模仿她说话的甜美口气,一解长期赶工的苦闷, it is reported that, the workers like to imitate her sweet tone, hoping to completely get rid of tiredness of their longtime and urgent work.
