Quest Posted October 30, 2007 at 11:26 PM Report Posted October 30, 2007 at 11:26 PM A good policy, but will only hasten the mandarinization of China. Quote
muyongshi Posted October 31, 2007 at 04:32 AM Report Posted October 31, 2007 at 04:32 AM I personally think it's a good thing especially as it will be easier for children to get into school.... Quote
studentyoung Posted October 31, 2007 at 06:24 AM Report Posted October 31, 2007 at 06:24 AM Hukou system is related to so many other vital systems and fields like, education, public health care, housing, one-child policy, etc, which constitute the core of Hukou system. If only Hukou system changes, while other related vital systems remain the same as usual, the change itself is not so meaningful. I personally think it's a good thing especially as it will be easier for children to get into school.... Take it as an example. Whether children can get into school more easily depends on whether the educational fee and the living cost are affordable, especially for rural children who want to study in urban schools. Cheers! This is very true but it helps a little bit as any children without their hukou in that city will at least have access to getting in to school, but whether they can get through the problems after that is another bigger problem. Rincewind Posted October 31, 2007 at 12:32 PM Report Posted October 31, 2007 at 12:32 PM this article just appeared in gokunming (http://www.gokunming.com/en/). is thisnationwide, or is yunnan just a trial run? I remember hearing about this on CCTV9 back in May. It was one of the things in the National People's Congress discussed then. There were quite a few provinces doing this as a test run. I remember that Liaoning, my locality, was one of the ones on the list. Don't know any details other than that. Quote
