Palm TX Chinese simplified and traditional support

Recommended Posts

Just got a Palm TX the other day and already I'm using plecodict which is incredibley useful. However, my lecturers have started to produce alot of word documents regarding useful grammar points and I can't view them on my PDA because I guess I need to install chinese characters on to my PDA.

Anyone had any experience doing this and could tell me how to get Chinese simplified and Traditional on my PDA.

Ok I've just installed CJKOS but it's changed my whole OS into chinese, is there anyway I can get the menu's back in English but just have it so I can also input and read in Chinese when I need to.

Open up CJKOS prefs, and click on the second tab.

At the bottom you'll see zhong wen hua 中文化. Uncheck it.

You'll have Chinese support but it won't change your menus etc...

If you still can't see them with CJKOS installed it might be the version of Documents to Go you have.

I spoke too soon, I still can't view chinese characters on my word documents, I have no problem writing and viewing chinese when I make memo's etc.

What version of Docs to Go do you have, and are you putting the files directly onto the Palm or converting them with the Docs to Go desktop software?

Just tried it, works fine on mine.

Created a Word file and copied it directly from the PC onto the SD card.

I have version 7.006 of Docs to Go.

Incidentally is your CJKOS set to Big5 (Traditional) or GB (Simplified)?

Sorry I really should work things out for myself before I start posting lol. Everything works fine now.

I couldn't view the Chinese when I used Doc to Go as it converted the Handheld format to Word To Go. Once I changed them to Microsoft Office they worked perfectly.
