Hi,

I'm planning to study in China through 'ChinaStudyAbroad'. I've searched the forums and I could could find no mention of them. After all I've heard about scams I'm a bit concerned that this company may not be trustworthy. Has anyone used them before and, if so, what did you think of them.

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me.

If you're interested in studying in China, I'd suggest just going straight to a Uni and working it out yourself. Those programs seem to cost quite a bit more than if you just organized it yourself.

Hey,

I can understand why the last user would say that study abroad programs in China are over-priced because in general they are. However, as a current student in Beijing who came here through China Study Abroad, I can tell you that CSA charges half of what most other companies are charging. Additionally the staff is super friendly and helpful, most housing arrangements are great, especially by Chinese standards, and there are CSA-sponsored events almost every week (this week is skiing/snow-boarding, yay!) which are completely planned and paid for by CSA.

Based on what I've heard from people I've met here, most companies don't provide anywhere near the same level quality of service and charge an arm and a leg for it. The only cheaper way to go is to come here on your own and arrange everything individually -- a viable option for someone already familiar with the language, the area, and how things are generally run, but definitely time and energy-consuming and in the end, I have a couple friends who have gone this route and they seemed to have spent about the same as what I paid for CSA to take care of it all for me.

As you can tell I've had a great experience with CSA so far and would definitely reccomend them to you. I think most of us in the program are pretty happy. If you want to find out what other people think as well I would reccomend getting on facebook and friending CSA (I think they have a page, I'm not actually on facebook I've just heard!) and then finding other people in the program to ask.

Best of luck!

Thanks for merging! Yeah I know these orgs will be more expensive, but I think I'm willing to pay for it if it'll make my life easier. EnderMartel--or any others--just wondering if you did end up going through them and if you feel like it was worth the extra cost?

Going to school in China shouldn't cost you anything at all... Do like most do and just come to China on the X visa.. go to school and in your free time.. TEACH ENGLISH.. charge at least 100 RMB/hour... LOTS OF people do it... NOT LEGAL.. but since when did China have law...
