Taibei Posted May 6, 2004 at 07:51 AM Report Posted May 6, 2004 at 07:51 AM I see that a number of people here have already found my site at www.pinyin.info Over the past month, I've been doing a lot more work on the site, adding lots of material and reformatting most pages. Here are two things added just this week: "Implications of the Soviet Dungan Script for Chinese Language Reform", an important essay by Victor Mair. I hope everyone will take the time to read this. Numeral Type for Mandarin Chinese: a number-based system for reading and writing Chinese. I added this obscure system mainly for fun -- and because it's a useful reminder that because Chinese characters are so difficult it's actually easier for blind people to learn to read Chinese and Japanese than for sighted people. Please let me know your reactions to the site, as well what you think should be added. If anyone should be intested in a banner for my site, I've made one in standard size: Quote

sheik Posted July 19, 2004 at 12:10 AM Report Posted July 19, 2004 at 12:10 AM Taibei, I've had a (brief) look at your site and it seems to be pushing the view that Chinese characters should be replaced by romanisation, although it doesn't explicitly state this. Would that be a fair observation? I'm interested, is that your personal view? Whether it is or it isn't, may I suggest that an "About this Site" link would be a useful addition? At the very least, it would perhaps stop people jumping to conclusions about any possible personal bias for the site. It is a nicely put together site by the way! Best Regards, /dam Quote
