roterreise Posted December 5, 2007 at 08:13 PM Report Posted December 5, 2007 at 08:13 PM What is the pronunciation of "da xiong mao", especially the tones of each word in the group? Could you give me a URL with a sound file of the prounuciation? This is the most common name for the giant panda, is it not? thanks:D, roterriese Quote
Luobot Posted December 6, 2007 at 03:35 AM Report Posted December 6, 2007 at 03:35 AM 大熊猫 / dà xióng māo / giant panda You can see MDGB for the definition and to hear the syllables pronounced individually (click the syllables in the "Mandarin pinyin" column). Also see TING for the pronunciation of just xiong2 mao1 (panda) as one word. There's no Da4 ("giant" -- or in other contexts -- "big; huge; large; major; great; wide; deep; oldest; eldest; grown up"), but you can look that up and hear it separately, if you like. Quote
