Janey Posted December 6, 2007 at 01:34 AM Report Posted December 6, 2007 at 01:34 AM Hi! I am trying to choose a name for my son. I know that in choosing Chinese name, the time and date of birth have to be taken into consideration so that the name can be auspicious. Can anyone help me? Quote
yelei_1981 Posted December 6, 2007 at 03:06 AM Report Posted December 6, 2007 at 03:06 AM I don't know the rules. I am Chinese and I don't think my name has something to do with the time and date of my birth. Quote
Lu Posted December 8, 2007 at 08:06 AM Report Posted December 8, 2007 at 08:06 AM For a really auspicious Chinese name, taking time of birth and number of strokes and all into consideration, you will need to consult a fortune teller. Alternatively, you can just pick one that sounds good and has a good meaning. Perhaps you can let us know what kind of name you would like, and people here can come up with suggestions. Quote

OracleBone Posted December 12, 2007 at 07:50 PM Report Posted December 12, 2007 at 07:50 PM the time and date of birth have to be taken into consideration so that the name can be auspicious. It's very difficult. Quote
shibole Posted December 12, 2007 at 08:30 PM Report Posted December 12, 2007 at 08:30 PM If you do go to a fortune teller or something please post your experiences assuming you don't consider it too private a matter or something. I'm just curious as to how such a process would work or what it would be based on (feng shui, yi jing, etc.) Quote
Myself Posted December 13, 2007 at 01:01 AM Report Posted December 13, 2007 at 01:01 AM How about 弘穎, 宏穎, or 鴻穎? They are all pronounced hong2 ying3. 穎 means bright, intelligent. 弘 means to make something known. It can also mean grand. 宏 means grand, prosperous. 鴻 originally a name for a bird.
