孙子quote

I'm a bit puzzled about a famous Sun zi quote. It say in a book of mine that the correct quote is 知己知彼,百站百胜, however all my Chinese workmates swear that the correct quote is 知己知彼,百站不殆. Any one have any ideas?

Typo - It is 战 not 站.

Haha, the problem with that, is that sometimes the masses are not always right :-)

Although it is not exactly the same as what is in the book, "知己知彼,百戰百勝" is very commonly used.

It means "know onself,know others,you can win every battle".

It tells us that we should know all factors completely between ourselves and the people you will fight with

I am way out of my league here, but here is a suggestion from my wife, based on what she says she once read in an article somewhere:

The original quotation from 孙子 is 知己知彼,百战不殆。

The other quotation (知己知彼百战百胜) is a populist modern adaptation of 孙子's original quotation coined by the Great Helmsman himself, 毛主席。

Maybe someone else can verify whether my wife is on target (or playing a trick on me, etc.)
