muyongshi Posted December 12, 2007 at 09:03 AM Report Share Posted December 12, 2007 at 09:03 AM I don't have internet in my house right now and so am using my Treo 680 to do my web stuff. But I have run into the problem of veiwing 简体 and 繁体字 at the same time (mainly here is where I have the mix). I assumed that I should be able to do both and have tried many different settings all using auto char detect but nothing works. Am I not able to view both encodings or did something not install correct
ipsi() Posted December 13, 2007 at 08:35 AM Report Share Posted December 13, 2007 at 08:35 AM You're not able to view both when they're encoded as UTF-8... It's really stupid, but that's just the way it is. You can view both, but you can't tell CJKOS what the encodings are. You need to let it guess. Try this: Go to a text message. On the first line, enter: 你們. Exit, and change the encoding to GB2312. Go back. It'll display fine. On the second line, enter 你们. When you try to enter it (via the keyboard), you'll notice the first line looks a bit fucked up, but that's ok. You'll see both 你們 and 你们 display correctly, *provided* they're on different lines. If you put them on the same line, it won't work. The order you put them in determines the encoding (with regards to CJKOS). It's strange. It's annoying. But if you're viewing webpages I think you're stuck with with having to change the encoding if you desperately want to see characters belonging to it. muyongshi Posted December 13, 2007 at 10:20 AM Author Report Share Posted December 13, 2007 at 10:20 AM That is stupid. I mean these are handheld computers after all so they should exactly like a comp right? Thankfully they are hooking me back up now....
