Now people have over time (until this day) developed various ways of coming to grips with uncertain prospects in there particular situation and began to ask oracles e.g. 甲骨文 or interpret dreams concerning the future or take events that have already occured and integrate them into a contingent framework of their world view. These ways of mastering the contingent (the accidential) or sustaining a coherent and meaningful vision of the world are summed up in the german term Kontingenzbewältigung (to cope with the accidential). Some hints for an adequate translation of this last term into chinese would be very helpful. As I'm searching through chinese fulltext databases for publications on these things, this would be a besser keyword than just typing in 算命 or 梦占 and then searching through literally thousands of articles of wich only 1% has that perspective mentioned above...
