Cheap Hotel/Motel in Shanghai

Hi all,

I will visit China for the first time next month. I will be on a tight budget. Someone recommended me 7 Days Inn in Shanghai for around 160 yuan per night. Is this the best deal or is there a more cheaper option?

I just have been to Shanghai last month for a week or so, and the economy hotel MOTEL168 cost me - well obviously RMB168 per day having a decent and clean room and all other regular services, and it was already a promotional price, so I'd say your deal is reasonable enough, unless you are looking for something less well-serviced.

Mingtown Etour is a convenient hostel a private room cost about 130 RMB and or 10RMB put down a deposit on room internet. Pricey but convenient.

The rooms might not be as nice as motel 168 but the location is unbeatable! and as for the bar with the view of all the crazy skyscrapers in Pudong...!!

I stayed in this hostal when I first came to SH and I recommend it for the location and view from the bar which certainly has the WOW factor. Check on tripadvisor, thorntree (lonely planet forum) and fodors etc and you can get other peoples opinions. 168 motel's have nice rooms but nothing beats the Captains hostel's location! have a good one.
