xuechengfeng Posted May 10, 2004 at 03:41 AM Report Posted May 10, 2004 at 03:41 AM what exactly does this mean? i've seen sentences like huo dao lao xue dao lao hai you san fen xuebudao meaning still can't learn 3/10's if someone is saying.. Nimen liangwei budan neng shuo, erqie shuode shifen hao.. does this mean 10/10's = 100% also meaning very good, top, etc.? or does shifen have an actual meaning. Quote

skylee Posted May 10, 2004 at 03:56 AM Report Posted May 10, 2004 at 03:56 AM "活到老, 學到老, 還有三分學不到" - meaning there is no limit to knowledge and even if you spend your whole life studying you will never learn everything. 30% is not to be taken literally. Something with the same meaning - "學海無涯" - the sea of knowledge is boundless. "吾生也有涯,而知也無涯" - my life is limited, yet knowledge is limitless. 十分好 means very good. Not 100%. 十分好吃 - very tasty 十分聰明 - very clever Quote
