dalaowai Posted December 31, 2007 at 10:15 PM Report Posted December 31, 2007 at 10:15 PM I was just watching UFC and a contender named Soa Palalei had a tattoo on his back which I think says 武士友钦 I don't quite get the meaning that he's trying to convey. Has anyone heard of this phrase before? From what I gather, it says "samurai friend of the emperor", however I find it a bit weird. Any thoughts? Quote
Nikar Posted January 4, 2008 at 02:09 PM Report Posted January 4, 2008 at 02:09 PM 武士友钦 武士 = samurai / warrior 友 = friend 钦 = respect / admiration So, it seems to mean either "Samurai's friendship and respect" or "Friendship and Respect of the Samurai" or "Admirer and friend of a Samurai". Nothing to do with Emperor or kings etc. See ye', Xeon Quote

ABCinChina Posted January 17, 2008 at 06:16 AM Report Posted January 17, 2008 at 06:16 AM I think that most people who get a Chinese tattoo don't know what the characters mean. I think it means "Admire/Respect the Warrior". At least that's the English he gave the tattooist to translate into Chinese. Quote
