nitropuppy Posted January 4, 2008 at 01:22 PM Report Posted January 4, 2008 at 01:22 PM I'm in the Sichuan Province. Got my motorcycle license and am playing the exciting game of "How long can I survive" on the roads here in China. But, the Chengdu area only allows a motorcycle with 250cc engine or less. (no big Harleys around here) But, I have seen a few bikes with 1000cc engines. I have inquired with the local police and they say 250cc is the limit. How is this possible? These few other bikes do have different license plates. Not from Sichuan supposedly. Question; What are the motorcycle engine size limits in the other provinces? How can I get a larger bike? Is it a matter of greasing some palms for the license plates? And do you think they'll ever allow larger bikes on the Highways? (the back roads are making my kidneys bleed) I'm a big guy. I need some more power. Not nessessarily for the speed but more for the acceleration and manueverability. As we guys all know,.......size does matter. Quote

mr.stinky Posted January 4, 2008 at 02:58 PM Report Posted January 4, 2008 at 02:58 PM most bikes here, including police are 125-150cc. have seen a few 250cc police bikes, but no civilian yet. there are some 600 cbr's floating around, as well as some 750cc chang jiang hack jobbers. hacks are definitely banned within the city, although i've heard that they are considered automobiles for licensing and/or registration. last year in guangzhou spotted a 1500 goldwing outside a repair shop. humanbeing Posted January 5, 2008 at 12:09 PM Report Posted January 5, 2008 at 12:09 PM Similar to Sichuan, unless its an "old registration" before the ban. 广东省陆丰市碣石镇 is famous for these big bike. "Pros" from there rebuilt these bike from so called "metal scrap" 'from Japan. There's dealer bought from the above place around the "big bike circle" If u pay $$$ nothing is impossible BUT >90% of these bike are: (套牌) Copied license plate with from some "old & real registraion" (假牌) Complely FAKE license plate Run away before caught by police !!! Highways are privately owned. They only care you paid the "toll". Quote
