YangDizi Posted January 10, 2008 at 11:21 AM Report Posted January 10, 2008 at 11:21 AM There are a few options: train, coach or minibus to Beijing. I think your best option is to take a private minibus to Beijing (be sure to check exactly where in Beijing they stop) - there should be some going from the ferry terminal all the way to Beijing. It is a few years since I've taken a minibus from the port to Beijing so I don't know how much it will cost but it won't be too costly. Perhaps other friends have more information on where the minibuses stop in Beijing and how best to get from there to BNU. Quote
roddy Posted January 10, 2008 at 02:39 PM Report Posted January 10, 2008 at 02:39 PM Don't know where the buses from the ferry terminal stop in Beijing - didn't know there were any - but if you end up anywhere that can reasonably be called Beijing I'd just take a cab, particularly if you have any quantity of luggage. If you end up near the subway, you can head for Jishuitan on line 2 (the circular one), which is about a ten minute walk south of the university. Quote
sannomiya Posted March 6, 2008 at 02:03 PM Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 at 02:03 PM hey folks. very sorry for the late reply. in the end, taking a boat was such a hassle and i wasn't able to sail as planned. anyways, for anyone's reference if they are thinking of doing what i did, here is what happened. i was living in hk and decided to backpack my way up to bj via tw, japan, and korea. from hk to tw, had to take a plane since there were no ferries. but from tw to jpn, they wouldn't let me get a boat ticket because i didn't have proof that i would leave japan. i just planned on getting a ticket while i was there. anyways, it meant i had to pre-purchase a ticket from japan to korea, but since korea also needed proof that i would leave, i would have to pre-purchase a ticket from korea to china. unfortunately, i'm not all that familiar with ferry travel and didn't want to put up with the hassle since i was trying to take my time and kinda go with the flow; most of the ferries required a specific date and the websites were pretty hard to navigate. i even tried to go thru some travel agencies, but none of them dealt with ferry services like this. anyways, i decided that it just wasn't worth the trouble. i just purchased some open schedule plane tickets. in the end, bnu offered a free shuttle service to the campus so all was covered. anyways, thanks to yangdizi and roddy for the help.
