Bureaucratist Posted January 12, 2008 at 06:03 PM Report Posted January 12, 2008 at 06:03 PM Shaolin temple was created by the famous damo master monk from India, as an ancestor of Mahayana Zen. It started its fame in the world from the Chinese movie 'Shaolin temple', and well-known universally by its delicate, splendid martial arts. But from the recent years' news, shaolin temple is no longer a Sakyamuni's descendant, but a internal corporation, a making money, or more precisely described - a money prostitute full of stink of gold. The temple's head is just like a CEO of a rich, powerful company, as in the point of fact, he already named himself a CEO. He drove luxury, expensive German car with top-class inner car devices; He changed the latest, most fashionable cellular phone as a short message maniac; He flied to Germany for World Cup with his students who served him, drawing his packages; A lot of servants accompanied with him, and served him as an emperor; And so on, I even suspect that he often seek amusement from girls. His temple and students are also awful as him, the pilgrim to the temple has to pay at least 6000 yuan(around 800$) for even one joss stick. And that's far from the end, I bet you have to prepare several thousand dollars if one wants to do a worship in this luxury, noble, splendent, world-well-known temple. The monks there take photos with international tour ladies, glance in indecent manner; They don't clean the temple themselves but hire cleaners for it, meanwhile they hire guards; Clench thick pile of bills deceived from stupid, fake, unfaithful pilgrim; Do circus performance all over the world, in front of the camera, while forgetting what's their origin, their essence - Buddhism!! As a obvious contrast, still in China, another temple named DaBei(huge sadness) temple, the monks there abide Buddha's law strictly, they never ask for money from pilgrim or any others. There's a announcement board in front of the temple which announces that "Please don't donate any money." The head the temple wear patched frock; the monk there only ask for food alms for necessary allay of hunger; They do things all by themselves, including maintain roads of the temple; They walk all their way to spread Buddha's spirit, except for food begging, they don't ask for anythings from people; Even when walking in the metropolis, they are never disturbed by the scene around but go their way. In fact, most of them are bachelor degree holders or even PHD, they want to be a monk not because they're in something trouble but they are really sincere about it! These are the real Buddha's descendants! But not those Bullshit Shaolin Temple craps. Here's Chinese website link about it, though it's written in Chinese, somehow understandable to foreigners, but the pictures there are really shocking! The disgusting Shaolin temple's fake monk, and a vivid opposition - the real Sakyamuni's descendants - DaBei(Huge sadness) temple, which is absolutely repectable! http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_49b5473f010085... The grand Sakyamuni has argued and convinced those other religion distrust, but one of those Brahman said :"Though I fail now, but one day, my descendants may may dress in your flocks, holding your bowl and ruin your buddhism in your interior." After hearing that, Sakyamuni said nothing, but weeped. Quote

mr.stinky Posted January 13, 2008 at 08:37 AM Report Posted January 13, 2008 at 08:37 AM what? religion can be a racket? i be shocked! "Consider Bishop Eddie Long, who pastors a megachurch in Lithonia, Ga. With a salary approaching $1 million a year and a nine-bathroom mansion situated on 20 acres, Long's choice of vehicles reflects his opulent lifestyle: He drives a $350,000 Bentley." "he defended his high-flying ways, insisting, "I pastor a multimillion dollar congregation. You've got to put me on a different scale than the little black preacher sitting over there that's supposed to be just getting by because the people are suffering."" http://www.alternet.org/story/72539/ Senator's Inquiry Into Megachurch Money Hypocrisy Sparks Church-State Showdown Quote
flameproof Posted January 14, 2008 at 03:58 AM Report Posted January 14, 2008 at 03:58 AM what? religion can be a racket? i be shocked! Yep, no surprise at all here. Not in other places, but specially in China. And what for anyway? You want some exercise? Do yoga. You want self defense? Do muay thai, that probably works. That shaolin stuff looks like monkeys with a walking disorder. If it would be effective you would see in UFC (which is sick anyway). Quote
