NickyR Posted January 16, 2008 at 02:50 PM Report Share Posted January 16, 2008 at 02:50 PM Hi everyone I have a question about chinese language CDs which have accompanied the various textbooks I used in China. I have on my PDA a range of CHinese music and these language CDs. The plan is that I have them playing continually when I'm commuting etc.. It seems to be working well. BUT it gets on my nerves that I have to listen to the vocab lists and the "This CD is produced by BLCU etc" junk that accompanies each unit (one track on the CD) of the textbook. I just want to listen to the dialogues, not the vocab or the intros or the exercises. My question is: is there a way I can split a track in a CD so that I can separate the dialogues from the rest of the track, and then just put the dialogue bit onto my PDA. SO I guess it is a question about whether I can break up tracks on a CD. Thanks guys. Obviously this is not a major problem.
Luobot Posted January 16, 2008 at 03:00 PM Report Share Posted January 16, 2008 at 03:00 PM You can use an audio editor, such as Audacity, to cut out the parts you don't want to listen to.
LaoZhang Posted January 16, 2008 at 07:42 PM Report Share Posted January 16, 2008 at 07:42 PM I'll second that: Audacitity works well. If you're on a Mac, Garage Band is easy to use too (and you export to iTunes with ease).

flameproof Posted January 17, 2008 at 03:48 AM Report Share Posted January 17, 2008 at 03:48 AM Audacitity is good. You can google also for "mp3 cutter" or "mp3 editor", here is a free cutter: http://home.hccnet.nl/p.luijer/
c_redman Posted January 18, 2008 at 12:51 AM Report Share Posted January 18, 2008 at 12:51 AM Since you said you just want to save the dialog part of the audio, In Audacity you can just highlight that part and choose "Export Selection as mp3" (or wav).
