floatingmoon Posted January 20, 2008 at 12:03 PM Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 at 12:03 PM Many of the Mainland China websites are so slow, is it because I am not in Mainland China? Does anyone has this problem?
liuzhou Posted January 20, 2008 at 12:17 PM Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 at 12:17 PM Well known problem. In both directions. China simply doesn't have the infrastructure to support the number of internet users inside the country. Outsiders have to join the queue. adrianlondon Posted January 20, 2008 at 12:25 PM Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 at 12:25 PM The network is throttled going into china by the firewall. I assume it's equally throttled on the way out simply simply because it uses the same route. You get used to it after a while ;) Websites that seemed fast-ish while I was in Beijing are very slow back here in London. However, all the non-Chinese websites fly, so I'm happy with the swap. self-taught-mba Posted January 20, 2008 at 04:56 PM Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 at 04:56 PM It's the Chinese philosophy towards life applied to the internet. You've never heard "man4 man5 lai2" before?
Shadowdh Posted January 20, 2008 at 11:44 PM Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 at 11:44 PM Here in China some are slow some are fast... not too different from when I was in the UK... well except for having to use proxies sometimes... digchinese.com Posted January 24, 2008 at 06:40 AM Report Share Posted January 24, 2008 at 06:40 AM Generally speaking the connection from China to Australia and the U.S. is pretty fast, but the connection from China to Europe is pretty slow.
