Banestyrelsen Posted January 30, 2008 at 08:30 PM Report Posted January 30, 2008 at 08:30 PM Does anyone know if any mainland Chinese universities offer Bachelor's degrees in English? I want to study a full three year degree in Economics and/or Commerce in China, but I wasn't able to find good information about this. Also, do I need to have taken the HSK test if I want to study in English? I have studied Mandarin for two years at university in Australia, though I live in Sweden. Next opportunity to take the HSK test here is mid-May, so this could potentially delay my plans quite a bit. Quote
Aremonus Posted January 30, 2008 at 08:53 PM Report Posted January 30, 2008 at 08:53 PM I think Shanghai jiaotong uni teaches mainly in english? Well, i'd suggest you to go to singapore tho - they have, according to the education and the support, one of the world's best economy unis, nearly as good as the HSG in Switzerland or Harvard in the USA. Banestyrelsen Posted January 30, 2008 at 10:07 PM Author Report Posted January 30, 2008 at 10:07 PM Thank you for the tip, but at this stage I am mainly looking for international universities in the PRC. It's a cost issue and about the experience of living in China, the latter of which I think will be more important than having gone to a nice uni when it comes to starting a China-related career. The only undergraduate degree Shanghai Jiao Tong seems to offer in English is the "Bachelor's Degree Program of Chinese", but I'm looking for a regular Bachelor of Commerce/Economics degree taught in English. So, does anyone know of a university with international business degrees? Quote
skylee Posted January 31, 2008 at 12:00 AM Report Posted January 31, 2008 at 12:00 AM Why do you want to study a course taught in English in Mainland China? Quote
Banestyrelsen Posted January 31, 2008 at 12:16 AM Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 at 12:16 AM My Chinese isn't good enough to take a university course in Chinese, but it's at the level where I know enough to learn what I need on my own. If there was an international university where I can study economics in English, I could improve my professional skill base and at the same time improve my Chinese, make contacts, experience life in China, etc. It would be perfect for my needs. roddy Posted January 31, 2008 at 02:00 AM Report Posted January 31, 2008 at 02:00 AM I know that a few UK universities are now opening campuses in China - ie Nottingham University in Ningbo. Might be worth a look. Quote
Banestyrelsen Posted January 31, 2008 at 02:20 AM Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 at 02:20 AM Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Do you know of any more? Quote
simonlaing Posted February 1, 2008 at 02:51 AM Report Posted February 1, 2008 at 02:51 AM The is the John hopkins center in Nanjing that provides Masters and 1 year certificates but it taught in mostly Chinese. I think the University of Manchester might be setting up something similar to the Nottingham Uni. You can Try some Uni's in Shanghai such as Fudan and China East. It is conceivable that they may have programs though usually the english taught courses are masters or MBA level. Good Luck, tell us if you find any others. Simon:) Quote
