shuizhuniurou Posted February 8, 2008 at 12:15 AM Report Posted February 8, 2008 at 12:15 AM I've been trying to write a short story that has the tuo la ji as one of the main components. But, not really knowing what this kind of tractor is called, I've not been able to find anything online that may help with describing it, how it works, etc. I've heard it called a belt-tractor, the bump-bump tractor, Dr. Seuss tractor, but sure would help to know its real name or where I could find information on it. Pretty commonly seen in China's countryside - I lived in Guangxi Province and often saw them bouncing along, the long belt stretched from the front up to near where the driver sat, controlling the big sticks. I'm hoping someone out there knows the name after seeing the picture. Any info would be great! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Kevin Quote

studentyoung Posted February 14, 2008 at 03:45 AM Report Posted February 14, 2008 at 03:45 AM I'm hoping someone out there knows the name after seeing the picture. It looks like a “four-wheel-drive” tractor(四轮驱动拖拉机). It’s also called “四轮拖拉机” or “小四轮” in daily life. http://www.china-guihua.com/zxcp_XGN91FY.asp (a picture of a four-wheel-drive tractor) http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&newwindow=1&q=China+four+wheel+drive+tractor (Info.) Pretty commonly seen in China's countryside - I lived in Guangxi Province and often saw them bouncing along, the long belt stretched from the front up to near where the driver sat, controlling the big sticks. According to your words, they are chain track tractors (履带拖拉机). They’re also called crawler/creeper tractors. Cheers! Quote
