tsarwonderful Posted February 27, 2008 at 04:50 PM Report Posted February 27, 2008 at 04:50 PM Hello, I want to undertake an independent study with a Professor at Tsinghua. However, given the late date, I'm scrambling to find language programs to complement my studies. What universities are located around Tsinghua? (e.g. Columbia's study abroad institution is Central University for Nationalities (CUN) - is the close?) How far is it from the cultural centers of Beijing (especially the contemporary arts districts)? Thanks! Quote
roddy Posted February 28, 2008 at 04:22 AM Report Posted February 28, 2008 at 04:22 AM Tsinghua is located in the university area of Beijing, and there are any number of universities / private schools round about, not to mention hordes of students willing to work as tutors. CUN is not too close, but not very far either - commutable if you had to. Quote
gougou Posted February 28, 2008 at 04:30 AM Report Posted February 28, 2008 at 04:30 AM The university area in the Northwest of the city also is a cultural center (lots of readings and discussions there, as well as movie screenings and some of the more important venues of the live music scene). Most official cultural venues concentrate within the second ring road, which can be quite a distance already, while the art districts, like 798 and Songzhuang, are in the East of the city, which makes for quite a trek. monto Posted February 28, 2008 at 08:22 AM Report Posted February 28, 2008 at 08:22 AM CUN(中央民族大学)is 5 - 6 kilometers from Tsinghua University. For e-maps of cities in China, you can visit: http://map.mapbar.com/ and click the city name. Quote
