trevelyan Posted February 28, 2008 at 06:32 PM Report Posted February 28, 2008 at 06:32 PM After a lengthy hiatus, newsinchinese.com is back online. I've also put the annotated texts from the old Adso Textbook project on the same site, including gems like this one. Those who remember the old site will probably notice a few small changes. The biggest is that we're annotating the full stories in advance -- this makes casual reading much easier, but comes at the expense of the ability to "re-annotate" pieces. The site also uses our sexy new popups, so that you can add/edit content as you read articles if that's the sort of thing that strikes your fancy. The site is still a work in progress and design and layout will probably change. There are also a few more texts I need to put up. And a special thanks to Roddy for hooking us up with the domain name as well. Quote
roddy Posted February 29, 2008 at 12:03 AM Report Posted February 29, 2008 at 12:03 AM Good to see. I'll move this into a more prominent forum - I think a lot of people would like to know this is back, but not sure how many delve down to the depths of the Adsotrans forum Quote
self-taught-mba Posted February 29, 2008 at 02:09 AM Report Posted February 29, 2008 at 02:09 AM Great news. Can't wait to spread the word (again). What domain name? Seems same as the adso one? Am I missing something? Quote
roddy Posted February 29, 2008 at 02:14 AM Report Posted February 29, 2008 at 02:14 AM The newsinchinese.com domain is again functioning though, and will redirect you to the right place. Quote
mirgcire Posted February 29, 2008 at 06:52 AM Report Posted February 29, 2008 at 06:52 AM Looks great. I checked out one of your "gems" and found "Dream of a Red Chamber". I ran my mouse over the text and found the cool pop-ups are working fine. Except when I got to this character: 卷. For some reason it had no pop-up. I wonder why. Quote
trevelyan Posted March 2, 2008 at 02:04 PM Author Report Posted March 2, 2008 at 02:04 PM Dream of *a* Red Chamber? Was that my typo? You've heard of the book, right? System should be automated now, and updating as Xinhua updates its RSS feeds. They're a bit lax about that on the weekends though. I've stuck up those four major news categories now (international/domestic/finance/IT). Can easily add others if there is interest. Quote
