重色轻友 - Can anyone explain this for me?

My friend taught me this today, and I think I understand what it means and how to use it, but I would appreciate clarification. (She couldn't explain it very well.)

You are more interested in girls (assuming you are male) than in friends. Mostly, it's used jokingly, though (e.g. you didn't hear a friend calling your name because you were talking to a girl).

This term sounds serious, but actually not. It often comes as kidding/joking.

Typical situation where it may appear:

Several men are meeting. And one of them want to leave with reason that he has an appointment with his girl friend, then one the others may say:

你小子重色轻友
