A friend wears this tattoo:

hanzi.gif

It originates from a book that his brother saw in the library and supposedly it's meaning is 'victory'. Anyway, having looked up this word and some others of similar meanings (win, gain, power, strenght) az zhongwen.com, I couldn't find any character to be reminiscent of this one. I presumed to recognize the shapes 日, 白 or 百 in the tattoo, but seeking among their derivatives gave no result as well. Can anyone please help me? Thanks in advance.

I don't recognise it. I believe it is one of those characters invented by tattoo "artists".

And for those in China wondering why they can't see the image, it's because it appears to be hosted on a machine that is blocked by the great firewall.

Even native Chinese don't recognize this symbol. It looks like a 反 in tradtional character.

I'm sorry to say that this character doesn't exist. Not even remotely. If I had to say it looked like anything, I'd say 海 sea.
