How to reduce the list of threads with unread posts

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi, all,

When I click the "New Posts" link, there appears the lists, two lists, one is really of new posts, but the other one appeared below the following sentence is not.

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

I wish this one disappear. I don't read some threads/posts, becoz they are about things I don't have interest in or totally Greek to me.

Does anyone here know how?

Thanks in advance

After you've read the threads you want, select Quick Links->Mark Forums Read to clear the other threads.

Or, as you seem to be using the Chinese interface, 快速链接 (in the top right of the screen), and then 标记版面已读。

Thank you both. It works, a little bit overworks. All the "unread" s became the "read"s.

So I decide it should be used when I ready to log out after surfing.

Yeah, like johnd said, only use it after you have read all the threads you wanted to read!

Yep, that's what you need to do. Basically hit that link once you've read everything you want to. Or just ignore them - I've got eight pages worth

Another convenient solution might be using RSS. I have subscribed to this forum using RSS in Outlook 2007. Works like a charm.

One other disadvantage I have noticed to using it (I am pretty sure anyway and a confirmation from the admins would be great) is that if there is an unposted response (ie it hasn't been confirmed or approved by admins) it marks that as read as well even before it's posted so you may never see it.

Let me know when you've marked the forums as read, and I'll go and moderate some posts.

My suspicion was correct! Thanks for helping confirm Imron!

It sounds like a bug to me. It shouldn't be marking unapproved posts as 'read'.
