Chinese Zodiac: Rats marrying in the Rat Year?

Hi,

My question is does anyone know what is Chinese prediction for the Rats in terms of marriage in the Rat Year (2008)? Does anyone know anything about being blind in the year of Rat? Any information will be appreciated.

I can't think of any, particularly that for marriage.

However, there is a general one among traditional Chinese, that is,

One should be particularly cautious in doing anything in the year of one's symbol.

For that purpose, many Chinese wear red underpants in the year of their symbol.

Notes:

By "years of one's symbol", I mean "本命年", my presentation of the meaning in English may not be accurate, but there seems no better one.

The "years of one's symbol" are the years when one's age reaches 12, 24, 36,48 and so on.

I guess I will be wearing red underwear on my wedding day then just for luckiness. . What I don't understand is how come someone should be cautious in their own year? Does it mean bad luck?

Either way, 'your' year is special, and you need to wear something red (be it clothes or underwear or something else) to either further enhance the good luck that comes of that year, or to ward off the bad luck that comes of that year.

I don't know about marriage, but there might be some rule. Elsewhere I think you wrote about a family member who recently died, there is a Chinese custom that says you're not supposed to get married within a certain time after a relative died.

Thanks for the information, Lu. Well, I guess that every group has their belief. I don't know what to believe anymore since I find it too confusing. A little more than a year would have passed after grandma's death before I get to married. Only my heart and the circumstances that life are presented to me would be able to give me the clues that I need to make my life decisions. I am guessing that's the reason of why our intuitions came to exist.

Hi Eddie, I hope that things get better for you. This year is only starting anyway. Try to cheer up . Like some people said from here, maybe wearing red underpants will bring you more luck in your life. It doesn't hurts to try .

I'm a Sheep (A Wood Sheep, not an old goat!), divorced from a Dog. If only I knew the Chinese zodiac back then about how compatible we are not. (But I did not need a horoscope to tell me that.) I should have worn red clothing from head to toe. If it didn't directly give me good luck, she would have at least dumped me for being some kind of lunatic with an unnatural fondness for red clothing...
