skylee Posted March 12, 2008 at 10:47 PM Report Posted March 12, 2008 at 10:47 PM It is not SARS, nor avian flu. The authorities say it is just common flu. But it has already killed 3 young children. And lots of kids are taking sick leave. Hospitals are full. So the HK government has just announced that all primary schools and below are to shut up early "for Easter holidays" (but our schools usually have long Easter holidays anyways). The following is from RTHK - The government has announced all kindergartens and primary schools are to shut up early for Easter from today in the face of the current flu outbreak as more students fall ill. The Health Secretary, York Chow, said the flu season was expected to peak in the coming few weeks. And he believes bringing the two-week Easter break forward by two days will help calm public fears. Hope it will not spead further. But there is also an outbreak in Shenzhen -> Schools Warned against Flu Outbreak in Shenzhen Quote
imron Posted March 13, 2008 at 01:24 AM Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 01:24 AM The authorities say it is just common flu. They said that about SARS too (well at least here on the mainland they did). Quote
