Thanks for any help offered. Quote
cdn_in_bj Posted March 13, 2008 at 03:18 AM Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 03:18 AM What you need to do is an inter-bank transfer/remittance. See the following: http://www.icbc.com.cn/e_icbcmodule/thirdindex.jsp?column=Personal%2BBanking%3EConvenient%2BBanking%3EInter-bank%2BRemittance BOC should also offer a similar service. Note that the transfer will take some time to settle (should only be a few days at most), so plan accordingly. Also, if you don't already have an ICBC or a BOC account, you will probably need to open one first. Quote
roddy Posted March 13, 2008 at 03:43 AM Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 03:43 AM It may be worth asking if they have alternative bank accounts you can use - a lot of companies have accounts at all the major banks for just this reason. If time is tight then I'd probably opt to taxi back and forth to the actual branch rather than spend time getting an inter-bank transfer done. Quote
Shadowdh Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:27 AM Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:27 AM Yeah I thought that might be the case... alrighty then I guess its a trip to the nearest local branch then... cheers all... Quote
roddy Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:39 AM Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:39 AM Take your passport!!!!! Also, if it's across provinces there may still be a delay - you might want to check that. Quote
Shadowdh Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:53 AM Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:53 AM Will do, I generally never leave home without it when going to the bank... it seems they always need it for something... cheers for the info. Quote
flameproof Posted March 13, 2008 at 06:14 AM Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 06:14 AM From my experience you can go to any bank and do a cash transfer/deposit to any other bank in China. But better check with the staff before you take the waiting number. If you have often that problem, open an account with ICBC, they have English online banking. Quote
Shadowdh Posted March 13, 2008 at 09:48 AM Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 at 09:48 AM Thanks for all the help... I went down to the local branch here in Wuhan and as it turns out its really just down the road... went in grabbed a ticket and within 5 or 6 minutes was out again... job done, I was really impressed at how quick and easy it was... it helped that the place was nearly empty... Flameproof, ah now that I didnt think to try, I do have an ICBC account set up by the uni in which the deposit my monthly stipend. Might look into that for the future. Cheers Quote
