Need help to translate

Hi everybody,

my name is Paolo and I'm italian.

I'm trying to translate some proverbs about chinese martial arts but, sometimes, I can't catch the meaning

I'm working on this:

月 棍、年刀、一辈子枪、宝剑随身藏

It's about the four principal weapons used in chinese wushu and the time you need to grasp every single weapon's skill. The firs part is easy but I can't understand what 宝剑随身藏 means, especially the last word's meaning.

月 棍: 月 = moon; month 棍 = stick

年刀: 年 = year; 刀 = knife

一辈子枪: 一辈子 = a lifetime; 枪 = spear; lance

宝剑随身藏: 宝剑 = a sword which is treasured by its users; 随身 = along the body; always carried around by the user 藏 = to hide; to conceal.

I really don't know what you're asking, but I've translated what I know.

There are four "times": month(月),year(年),lifetime(一辈子) and every day (implied by 随身) and

four weapons: stick(棍), knife(刀),spear(枪) and sword(宝剑)

The line in Chinese means that you need so musch times to learn and practise to be good at the weapons respectively.

And the character 藏 literally means to hide, but is loosely used here just to mean "bring" or "take". The reason to do so is to keep the two parts end in same rhyme (qiang - cang).

宝剑随身藏means take with the sword,maybe hide it . don't let others see it

i think this phrase may not appear along,,if you want to translate it nicety ,especially "藏",

it is better to consistent with other words (fbefore ,,after,,)
