roddy Posted March 15, 2008 at 02:29 PM Report Posted March 15, 2008 at 02:29 PM Not available from China, and I'm not sure one Bruce Lee movie makes this a Chinese Film and TV topic, hence moving. . . Quote
skylee Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:08 PM Report Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:08 PM Movie companies Lionsgate, Fox and Universal have launched a new website which allows you to watch full-length feature films But why? And I am in HK and those movies are unfortunately not available in this country or region. hahahaha. Quote
roddy Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:11 PM Report Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:11 PM It'll be advertising-supported - maybe not now, but in the future at least. Same principal as free commercial TV. I also doubt that you'll get the latest blockbusters - films will only turn up there once they've got the cinema, DVD and TV revenues. Quote
skylee Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:13 PM Report Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:13 PM So for the time being we have to stick to youku and tudou I guess. Quote
Prase Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:57 PM Report Posted March 15, 2008 at 03:57 PM Unfortunately this video is not currently available in your country or region. We apologize for the inconvenience. So where it is available? Quote
imcgraw Posted March 15, 2008 at 11:41 PM Report Posted March 15, 2008 at 11:41 PM I think it's in the US only... or at least it was initially. I've been using the private beta release for quite some time now... and I have to admit, I've been pretty impressed. I will miss it while I'm in China for the summer. ... but yeah... hard to see what this has to do with Chinese. Quote
imron Posted March 16, 2008 at 03:17 AM Report Posted March 16, 2008 at 03:17 AM Just set up a server in the US to act as a proxy, and the problem is solved Quote
roddy Posted March 16, 2008 at 03:44 AM Report Posted March 16, 2008 at 03:44 AM If you've got the speeds - I tried it through a VPN on my 2M connection and it was still very choppy. Also it didn't seem to be possible to let it buffer in the background and then watch later. Quote
BLCUP Posted March 19, 2008 at 05:07 AM Report Posted March 19, 2008 at 05:07 AM www.youku.com you can see online movies Quote
Luobot Posted March 19, 2008 at 09:53 AM Report Posted March 19, 2008 at 09:53 AM Dragon - The Bruce Lee Story Definitely popcorn worthy. Thanks for posting. Quote
jamesfoster Posted April 7, 2012 at 12:10 PM Report Posted April 7, 2012 at 12:10 PM Hulu: US-only. Youku: Mainland China-only. I'm in Australia. Is there anything for countries outside US & China? Quote
fanglu Posted April 7, 2012 at 12:22 PM Report Posted April 7, 2012 at 12:22 PM PPLive has movies and works in Australia (or did last time I checked). You do need to download the application, rather than just going to a website though. (null) Quote
icebear Posted April 7, 2012 at 07:47 PM Report Posted April 7, 2012 at 07:47 PM There is an incredible wealth of Chinese movies/TV in great quality on YouTube, all you need to do is search in Chinese. You'll keep coming across a few users that have great collections, such as: http://www.youtube.com/user/sky99996666/videos http://www.youtube.com/user/slzNO1/videos http://www.youtube.com/user/MyChineseDrama/videos My assumption is that none of the studios producing this content either a) care about free streaming which will primarily be viewed by overseas Chinese, or b) are even aware of it. Much of the content was uploaded some time ago and still persists... 1 Quote
imron Posted April 7, 2012 at 09:38 PM Report Posted April 7, 2012 at 09:38 PM http://tv.sohu.com is my favourite. TV shows, movies and more. Quote

My assumption is that none of the studios producing this content either a) care about free streaming which will primarily be viewed by overseas Chinese, or b) are even aware of it. Some of the best stuff is posted by Sina (新浪) itself - check out the sinapremium channel. It must be a deliberate strategy to promote the content overseas. YouTube is blocked in China so content posted there would not be available to the domestic market (without a VPN). Quote
