TCcookie Posted March 22, 2008 at 04:05 AM Report Posted March 22, 2008 at 04:05 AM Recently I have become enamored by the idea of studying Cantonese. I have already been studying Mandarin several years and consider myself upper-intermediate, perhaps bordering on advanced in some areas. I've checked out a few materials on Cantonese to look at, and it has frustrated me that no English-language materials I've found let me capitalize on already (more or less) knowing Mandarin. For example, no books I've found, including dictionaries, print characters, which annoys me to death! I know they're out there. They must be. I have seen some Chinese-language books on Cantonese, but I think I would prefer to use one that uses Yale romanization for Cantonese, if such a thing exists. Anyway, does anyone know some good resources for studying Cantonese that are especially good for those who already know Mandarin? Quote
