mokushiroku Posted March 23, 2008 at 12:08 PM Report Posted March 23, 2008 at 12:08 PM Anyone know where I can find listening material to prepare for HSK Advanced's listening portion? No matter where I look, I always find CDs only for the beginner and intermediate levels. I have like 3 HSK advanced books with listening sections included, but no actual audio materials. Someone help me out. Any online material would be good too. Quote

I have like 3 HSK advanced books with listening sections included, but no actual audio materials. From what we know, there is no HSK advanced listening cd materials published in mainland China, just cassettes for audio use, for example: Simulated Tests for HSK (Advanced Level) Listening Comprehension (Including Record Text): http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=3350 http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=3351 Preps for HSK (Advanced Level) Listening Comprehension: http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=3346 http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=3349 Test Yourself on HSK Listening Comprehension (Advanced) (1): http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=3364 http://www.studychineseculture.com/book.asp?id=3365 And according to the rules said by China Post and FedEx, people in Taiwan need to provide import licence to buy audio materials. roddy Posted March 24, 2008 at 02:25 PM Report Posted March 24, 2008 at 02:25 PM I'd be surprised if the tapes (don't hold out for CDs, they're often just recorded directly from the tape anyway) didn't exist, it's most likely the shops you're getting them from just don't stock them. What actual books do you have? Quote
lau Posted March 26, 2008 at 04:48 AM Report Posted March 26, 2008 at 04:48 AM I have the book "Challenging HSK: A Predicted Selection of Simulated Exams for HSK" mentioned in the post above. The audio quality on the CDs is good, that would be no problem, but the listening part of the tests was considerably easier than on actual test (well, at least when I took it). I used to score a good A in the listening part from the not so Challenging HSK book, 90 something % (so i stopped practicing this part) and ended up with a B on the listening section of the actual test, because the stuff they made us listen was not like the nice, clear recording this book has.
