it is 祥(xiang2), in Chinese, the 祥 can made up a phrase "吉祥". That means the propitious, or lucky. So the tattoo shows a wish of luck.

祥 is one of the most favourate characters to chinese people, the others like 喜, 福, 禄, 寿,财,吉,祥 and the like.

Hi thankyou for your help i was a bit worried it might of said stupid white boy or somthing LOL. I was goin to get my wife and kids names tattoo'd on my arm in chinese but having read up on it i don't think its a god idea. I might just get some nice english coligraphy instead thankyou again for your help.
