Xi'Er Dun Posted March 30, 2008 at 03:49 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2008 at 03:49 AM :helpDear Forum Reader, If anyone has bought an electronic handheld dictionary 電字字典 in China called the "Bookman 9100" (it's white and small and plays piano music when you turn it on), then can they please suggest a way to help my problem I have with mine I bought in Beijing's Foreign Language Bookshop. It all worked perfectly after I brought it home with me from trip to China when one day I pulled it out of my pocket and the opening music and graphics worked correctly, all correctly except for a very bad problem, I can't get the screen to recognise my touch strokes and nor do the buttons work either, the only way I can turn it on and off is by putting in and taking out the batteries. My warranty is no use because I'm not in China anymore and if someone could diagnose this problem for the that would be really helpful, I'm hoping it is just stuck in a screen protective mode and there is no serious damage to it and that my problem is fixable. Even though I have studies Chinese for sometime already, I still can't read the manual properly. If anyone owns one of these devices and/or has had this problem before, than could they please leve me a reply, I would be quite pleased. roddy Posted March 30, 2008 at 04:22 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2008 at 04:22 AM Best thing to do is probably take it somewhere with experience of repairing similar devices - mobile phones, PDAs - and see if they can do anything with it. Or if you are brave, buy a screwdriver . . .
randall_flagg Posted March 30, 2008 at 05:10 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2008 at 05:10 AM Another option would be to send it to a friend in Beijing and have him take it to the store. But this would take weeks, I'm not sure you are willing to wait that long.
