maash Posted April 1, 2008 at 10:18 PM Report Posted April 1, 2008 at 10:18 PM 我到南亚没去过旅行 我没到南亚去旅行过 我没到南亚去过旅行 Which one of these sentences is correct? given its 2nd one in book, but why ? Why cant 3rd sentence? Quote
jade- Posted April 6, 2008 at 06:35 AM Report Posted April 6, 2008 at 06:35 AM The second sentence is correct. The sentence structures of the other two are wrong. The 3rd sentence: generally you put a noun of place after 去过, you can say 我没去过南亚。去旅行 is literally "go to travel" in English, here 过 is equal to the past or present perfect tense in English, so it is generally put after the verb + infinitive to indicate all the actions are/have been finished. Allen_3_Huang Posted April 6, 2008 at 06:41 AM Report Posted April 6, 2008 at 06:41 AM The 2nd one is correct. Because chinese use "我(没有)....过(...)" while english use "i have (not) done........". And "过" is right after the verb of the sentence. Example 1 Chinese:我没有看过这部电影.or 这部电影我没有看过. English: I have not watched this movie. Example 2 Chinese:我去过上海三次. English: I have been to Shanghai for three times. Quote
L-F-J Posted April 6, 2008 at 11:30 AM Report Posted April 6, 2008 at 11:30 AM there are two structures here. the first structure to look at it is "到...去...". 到 is followed by a location, and 去 is immediately followed by a verb. in english it means, "to go to (location) to do (verb)". in this case, the "location" is 南亚 and the "verb" is 旅行. 到南亚去旅行 = to go to southern asia to travel. the second structure "没...过" is used, placing the action between the two, to negate it ever happening. in this case the action is 到南亚去旅行. so naturally, wrap 没 and 过 around this action and you have the sentence: 我没到南亚去旅行过= i havent (or have never) been to southern asia to travel.
