woodcutter Posted June 19, 2004 at 05:01 AM Report Posted June 19, 2004 at 05:01 AM I know they use Chinese traditional instruments to make modern music - I'm a big fan of that. And they went to nice music conservatories, they know how to play! And they are big in Japan (well isn't everyone) - the fastest selling Chinese group album in Japanese history. Go girls! Never heard them though.......... Quote
Troll Posted July 5, 2004 at 12:06 AM Report Posted July 5, 2004 at 12:06 AM Yes I know them. First they drew my attention by playing Brubeck’s “Take Five” on those qins. I thought immediately I am going to by me the DVD but then they started playing Mozart and it was horrible. They are like…Vanessa May. Good looking, young Chinese girls, but they play like monkeys – without giving the music at least a fraction of their soul. The only charm created during their concerts is the one of traditional instruments. But it’s simply a matter of fashion. In the Beatles’ times it was sitar which was the ultimate “traditional instrument”. Now it is qin. What’s next? The Russian balalaika might be? Quote
sunyata Posted July 5, 2004 at 03:52 AM Report Posted July 5, 2004 at 03:52 AM Ouch, that's a harsh review, Troll.... :/ Balalaika won't be for sure, because it's hard as hell to play it ;) Quote
