PsychologyProf Posted April 10, 2008 at 08:28 AM Report Posted April 10, 2008 at 08:28 AM I am a research scientist from Boston University here on sabbatical to study Chinese script learning. Together with a Chinese doctoral student, I have designed a set of tasks that will assess what parts of reading Chinese script are easy and hard for you. These tasks are done on computer, and include reading short passages and judging the meaning of characters. Although the tasks aren't all "easy" we hope they will be interesting for people who are trying to learn Chinese writing. We are especially looking for foreigners who have succeeded in becoming pretty good Chinese readers. If you can read an average Chinese newspaper and understand around 70% of it, then congratulations -- and please let us study you! You are one of the success stories and we can learn a lot from you. The study will take around 1 hour or for some people 1 hour and 20 minutes. The study will run from April 14 to May 2. Tell us what time of day is good for you. If you can participate, we will find a time and a place convenient for you. Email me at charris@bu.edu If you participate, we will give you a gift. My team will also be happy to help you with something you need, such as expert Chinese help (I supervise several Chinese graduate students), or if you want English help (such as professional writing/editing), I can assist with that. Thank you very much!
