LaoZhang Posted April 15, 2008 at 11:15 PM Report Posted April 15, 2008 at 11:15 PM Hi all, I want to upgrate to the new unicode QQ and/or Tencent Messenger so I can change my Windows non-unicode settings back to English and not have to mess with Apploc. Questions 1. When you install a new QQ, does your buddy list, groups, settings, history move over with the update? If not, then what's the best way to move all the data over? 2. Has anyone used both QQ and Tencent Messenger? Anyone have BOTH installed on the same computer? Thanks, appreciate any info! Quote
flameproof Posted April 16, 2008 at 01:49 AM Report Posted April 16, 2008 at 01:49 AM your buddy list is stored on the remote server. So even if you delete QQ completely from your PC, when you re-install all your honneys will be there. Same when you login from a 网吧... Quote
wowokala Posted April 16, 2008 at 06:35 AM Report Posted April 16, 2008 at 06:35 AM Your buddy list, groups, settings, history do move over with the update. If not, you can click the right key of your mouse, then click the "下载好友分组", it works Quote
BrandeX Posted April 17, 2008 at 02:23 AM Report Posted April 17, 2008 at 02:23 AM Tencent "is" QQ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent_QQ alternatively you could try Pidgin instead (formerly called GAIM) http://www.pidgin.im/ Quote

BrandeX Posted April 18, 2008 at 11:43 AM Report Posted April 18, 2008 at 11:43 AM I was meaning that more along the lines of saying something like "Microsoft is Windows", but yes as you write is grammatically correct ;) Quote
greenmoon55 Posted April 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM Report Posted April 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM 1 I'm sure to tell you that the user data will be updated automatically when signed in, like WLM. 2 I installed both of them, but I mainly use TM for no ads. No problems will happen. I suggest you don't install them in the same folder. Quote
BrandeX Posted April 28, 2008 at 03:33 AM Report Posted April 28, 2008 at 03:33 AM Personally I use Pidgin for QQ, MSN, etc, all in one convenient window, and nothing to worry about like installing the regular qq clients. http://www.pidgin.im/ Quote
